Project Proposal

The project proposal stage consists of two pieces, a document and a presentation. The purpose of the proposal is to

• Get you started working on the project
• Familiarize your peers with your proposed project
• Allow for feedback on the scope and feasibility of the project from your instructor and your peers.

The proposal document should describe your project in sufficient detail to allow the reader to understand what you wish to do. This should include a question you wish to answer or a type of information you wish to discover from your data.

Please provide a brief description of the data you propose to work with. This includes

• A high level summary of the data, what it contains and were it comes from.
• An overview of several data fields that you will be using and how you expect these fields to assist in your goals for the project. This is not a full analysis, just an exploration of the data to demonstrate the likeliness of success in the project.

In addition, you should document how your project will demonstrate your ability to meet a majority of the course objectives.

Note, I don't believe it is possible for a project to demonstrate all objectives, but all projects should be able to demonstrate at least five.

The presentation should provide a brief overview of the project. It should include most of the information above, but need not include a mapping to the course objectives. You should plan for a 5 minute presentation.
