Paper Standards
All documents for this course should:
- be double spaced.
- include information identifying the author and assignment.
- include page numbers
- The title page, if present, should contain no page numbers.
- Front material, if present, including tables of contents, table of figures, ...
- Numbered in lower case roman numerals, starting with ii.
- The numbers should be centered in the footer.
- Normal text, bibliographies, appendices ...
- Numbered in Arabic numbers starting with 1
- The numbers should be in the upper right hand corner of the header.
Any document containing three or more pages of material (not bib, cover page, TOC, ...) should:
- contain a cover page including title, assignment and author.
- contain a table of contents which is automatically generated.
If the document references sources:
- these sources should be cited and referenced.
- the document should contain a bibliography which is generated using a citation management tool.
Graphs and charts
- should be readable and understandable.
- should contain a title.
- axes should be labeled when appropriate.
- categories should be identified.
- Should rarely include generic labels such as series 1, series 2, ...
- Should not extend beyond normal text margins.
Tables
- All columns (fields) should be appropriately labeled.
- Should be well formatted and readable.
- Should not extend beyond normal text margins.
- Consider landscape mode moderately large tables.
- Consider multiple tables for large tables.
Images
- Sources for images should be included and cited.
