In this course we will study the underlying ideas and hardware that are used to create a computer. This includes the study of data representation and encoding both numbers and other data. Basic Boolean logic and the physical gates that are used to implement this logic will be investigated. Finally we will discuss how to implement more complex circuits based on these ideas.
The class meets TR 2:00 to 3:15 in Ross 128.
At least some portion of the homework will be completed using the Digital software package. To run this, you will need JRE 1.8.0 or later.
