Finite Mathematics, MATH 104

In this class we will perform a survey of mathematics including consumer math, sets, logic, probability and statistics.

Math 020 or an acceptable placement are pre-requisites for this class.

You should not take this class if you have taken, or must take, MATH 110.

If you feel you have been incorrectly placed in this class, please see the instructor after class.

Announcements:

• You will need a calculator for this class. It is best to have one with the following functions
  • square root
  • x^y (or x^y)
  • x!
  • _nP_r
  • _nC_r
  A low cost scientific calculator ($10 or so) will do fine. You are not permitted to use your cell phone or other mobile device on the test.

  A graphing calculator, such as the TI-83+ is overkill for this class.

• The summer session is 19 days long, two hours, or 120 minutes each meeting. During a normal semester, you meet 150 minutes a week, so each day during the summer is nearly a week of classes during the normal semester. Please be prepared for this schedule.

• Important Dates:
  • Tomorrow, July 12 is the last day to to drop this class.
  • Wednesday Aug 1 is the last day to withdraw from this class.
  • Wednesday Aug 10 is the last day of class.
