Homework 4: Title

The goals of this homework are to demonstrate your ability to :

• perform page level formatting including
  • change the page orientation of part of a report.
  • use multiple columns in part of a report.
  • use different style page numbering in a report.
• import data from a worksheet.
• format a table.
• use a cover sheet.
• add worksheets to a workbook.
• build a data dictionary.
• build an About worksheet.

Instructions

• Obtain copies of the report and data
  • Download the csv file containing the data.
  • Download the beginning of the report.
• Add a cover page to the document.
  • Use any style you wish
  • Either fill in the default blanks or delete them.
  • This page should contain no page numbers.
  • 
• On the page following the cover page add a table of contents.
  • The page number should be
    • in roman numerals
    • centered at the bottom of the page.
    • starting at page 2.
    • 
• Following the table of contents, add an "Acknowledgment".
  • This is part of the front matter, so should have page number 3 at the bottom of the page in roman numerals.
  • This page should contain a single sentence: "I wish to thank everyone who helped me with this project."

• In the section with the heading The Data
  • Place the text in two column mode.
  • 
• Open the workbook from above.
• Set up the worksheets
  • Rename the existing worksheet Raw Data
  • Make a copy of the Raw Data worksheet
    • Call this Cleaned Data
    • Place this after the Raw Data worksheet.
  • Create an About worksheet
    • Place this as the first worksheet.
  • 
• Add sample data from the worksheet to the proposal document.
  • Place the Sample Data section in landscape mode.
  • Insert a copy of the first four rows of the data as one or more tables.
  • Format the tables
    • Center the field names both horizontally and vertically
    • Make sure no words in the field names are split
    • Apply banded rows and a header row.

• Build the About worksheet in the workbook
  • Add your name, class and the fact this is homework 4 at the top.
• Build a data dictionary in the

    • Should have an overall heading Data Dictionary
      • Centered over the table in a merged cell.
      • Bold and 18 point fond.
    • Should have column headers
      • Bold
      • Double underlined in red.

• Insert a copy of the data dictionary into the proposal document
  • This should be a well formatted table.
  • 
• At the end of the document add a Bibliography.
  • This should be on a new page.
  • There should be no page numbers.
• Number the pages in your main document.
  • Page numbers should
    • begin at page 1.
    • be in Arabic numerals.
    • be in the upper right hand corner of every page.

      • The workbook should be saved as an excel file.
