Some Midterm Information
- Everything but homework 6 has been graded.
- If you do not have feedback on something please let me know.
- You should expect 5-10 more homework assignments of the same nature.
- You should have a full accounting of your grade in your midterm submission folder/email
- .
- Look in cells A3:A9 for homework information
- Again, make sure that all of these are recorded correctly.
- If something is missing/wrong please let me know.
- This is likely a representation of your homework score unless
- You get lazy and decided to do less homework in the last 8 weeks.
- You get inspired and decide to do more homework in the last 8 weeks.
- Your project score is in B11.
- This is not likely to be representative of your project.
- Proposal only 15% of the project.
- Methods Document 45% (very important), due Nov 25

- Your Test

- Final score/midterm grade:
- A15:B16
- This is probably indicates final grade
- Study and submissions remain consistent.
- There is one more test
- This will mostly focus on excel
- I find students tend to struggle more with excel than word.
- It will be like the last test however.
- There are many more points from the project.
- As a student, you need to keep track of your grades.
- Everyone makes mistakes.
- Everyone has communication issues.
- If you find you are missing something/ something is wrong
- Did you submit/turn it in?
- If yes
- Do you have a copy of the work?
- Do you have a copy of the submission?
- Do you have a copy of the feedback/grade?
- Approach the instructor, politely, and present your evidence.
- I would ALWAYS save evidence of assignment submission.
- If no
- Check the syllabus, what does it say about late?
- You might politely approach the instructor and discuss any options.
- If you find your grade is wrong.
- Triple check your computation
- Make sure you understand the way grades are computed.
- This is from the syllabus.
- Double check all scores you have recorded.
- Triple check your computations
- Approach the instructor, politely, and present your evidence.
- Listen to answers.
- Ask clarifying questions.
- Extra Credit
- I understand that sometimes "busy work" extra credit is assigned to help students boost their grades.
- There are others for whom extra credit is "work beyond" the homework limits.
- Generally this is not a way to improve grades.
- Again, discuss this politely with your instructor.
- In general, you should be able to discuss anything with your instructor
- A calm, well reasoned, data backed approach is the best.
- During office hours.
- Or schedule an appointment.
- Remember, most of us have 100+ students each semester
- Many times students express strange "expectations" for final grades.
- A side note on storage
- We seem to be having storage issues
- I am sure it is a combination of problems.
- Please
- Either make sure you get onedrive worked out
- You use another cloud storage system (dropbox, goole, ...)
- Or get yourself a USB drive and start using it.
- I'm sorry, the University is working on storage solutions.
- Also please
- Pay attention when you store your files.
- Put them in the right place.
- Double check.
- Store your files frequently while you work.
- The normal windows save working backup might or might not be working in the lab.
- Saving files in multiple environments is always a matter of attention to detail.
