Homework 9: The Tables are Looking Up

• Demonstrate your ability to use vlookup.

• Start by downloading this workbook.
  • I have modified it, but it was from The PA Uniform Criminal Reporting System
  • It contains homicide statistics the Erie Metropolitan Area from 2000 - 2016.
• The table is in a very raw form.
  • Format the data as a date
  • For Race columns, add a column and look up the race description
  • For Relationship, add a column and look up the appropriate relationship description.
  • For Weapon, add a column and look up the appropriate weapon description.
  • Add a table, and perform a lookup to replace the gender columns with an appropriate gender description. (Two columns)
    • Do this by table and lookup, not by find/replace.
• Find and comment on problems in the data.
  • Describe how you would deal with these problems if you were interested in studying how relationship between victim and offender are related to the weapon used.
