It appears you may not have a function for a DATE type default
But you can for a TIMESTAMP
DESCRIBE tablename;
Comments are limited to 256 characters
- SHOW CREATE TABLE FARM;
- SHOW FULL COLUMNS FROM FARM;
A table property of AUTO_INCREMENT=n sets the beginning of the range
There can only be one AUTO_INCREMENT column per table.
AUTO_INCREMENT can not have a DEFAULT value
You do not appear to be able to change the increment value.
I was wrong, you may use NULL but you may not use just blank for an insert.

Insert example

LOAD DATA LOCAL INFILE 'critters.csv' 
     INTO TABLE FARM 
     COLUMNS TERMINATED BY ',' 
     (Sex, Name, DatePurchased);
