Input Data:

• Filename: workers.times
• Data Format:
  • A series of lines, one line per worker
  • Each line has the following information:
    • Last Name, a string with no whitespace
    • First Name with no whitespace
    • Worker ID, an integer
    • Employment Code, a character
      • H - hourly
      • S - salary
    • Hourly workers will have the following information
      • an integer representing the number of hours worked
      • an integer representing the number of dependents
      • A floating point number representing the hourly rate.
    • Salary workers will have the following information
      • An integer representing the number of dependents
      • An integer representing the annual salary.
  • Example

    Smith Bob 12345 H 40 2 15.34
    Smith Rachel 12346 S  2 40000
    	

• Process

  • Calculate the workers gross pay for the week, assume a 52 week year, and that overtime is paid at 150% normal pay.
  • Calculate taxes based upon the following tables:
    • The tax rate is based on the estimated annual income. Using the pay for the week, and assuming a 52 week year, estimate the workers annual pay, and calculate taxes based upon this salary. ( I just made this up, it has nothing to do with reality)

      $15,001 to $25,000	12%
      $25,001 to $40,000	17%
      $40,001 to $60,000	20%
      $60,001 to $99,999	25%
      $100,000 and up	29%

    • In addition, the tax rate is modified based upon the number of dependents. Use the following table to calculate the modified tax rate:

      Number of Dependents	Rate Modifier
      0	+2%
      1	+0%
      2	-1%
      3	-3%
      4	-4%
      5 and up	-6%

    • To find the final tax rate, calculate the base tax rate and add the dependent modifier to it.
    • Example:

       If the estimated income is $22,000, the base tax rate is 12%
       If they have 3 dependents, the modifier is -3%
       So the final tax rate is 12-3 = 9%
      

    • Finally, tax due is calculated by multiplying the gross pay by the tax rate.
  • Calculate the net pay by subtracting the tax due from the gross pay.

• Output

  • Produce a company salary report, which includes
    • One line per employee, giving name, id, hours worked, tax due and pay due.
    • The total number of workers
    • the total number of salary employees
    • The total number of hourly employees.
    • The total and average number of hours worked for hourly employees
    • The Amount of overtime (in hours) worked, as well as the total cost of the overtime (in dollars)
    • The total salary paid and the total taxes paid.
  • Your report should be printed to the screen.
  • The format is not specified, but points will be deducted if the report is not readable.
    • Label all output
    • Align columns in the employee part
    • Use whitespace when necessary

• Other

  • You really should start with an algorithm. Please put this in the comments for your program.
  • You should only make one pass through the data file.
  • Please make sure that you use comments in your program including:
    • A header block.
    • A data dictionary.
    • Comments on major code segments.
  • Please use both constants and variables in this program.
  • Please observe the indentation style from my notes and the book.
