String functions

• length, size
  • Both are equivilent
  • Return the number of characters stored in a string.

  • 
    string FirstName,
           MiddleName,
           LastName;
    int NameLength;
    ...
    NameLength = FirstName.length();
    NameLength = NameLength + MiddleName.size();
    NameLength = NameLength + LastName.length();
    
           

• find
  • Find the poisition of a substring within a string.
  • Takes a string
  • Returns an integer 0 to size-1, or string::npos

  • x = FirstName.find("an");
    	

• substr
  • Returns a portion of a string
  • Takes start position and length
