Chapter 2
- Chapter 2 discusses the office interface.
- This interface is shared across most office applications.
- They have tried to maintain consistency
- That way if you learn one product, you have a good start on any other.
- Start word, powerpoint, excel
- Notice all three present a common starting point
- The option to log into your Microsoft account
- This will give you integrated access to your Microsoft One drive.
- Templates
- A set of default templates
- And the ability to search for other templates.
- These are sometimes useful when you don't know how do format something
- Recent documents
- I think this is turned off for you in this lab.
- But I have come to think this is a useful function.
- Open Otter documents
- Lets you search your file system for documents to open.
- Just start a blank document in each
- Notice all three have a common look
- The most noticeable item is the ribbon
- This contains most of the commands you will be using.
- The ribbon contains a number of tabs
- Each tab contains a number of workgroups
- Workgroups contain buttons
- Some workgroups have drop down menus
- Some even contain galleries
- Some workgroups contain a Dialog Box Launcher which gives access to a Dialog Box.
- Pinning and unpinning the ribbon.
- The ribbon can be customized
- I tend to not do this
- But there are instructions for this in chapter 2.
- Look at the quick access toolbar
- Save
- Undo/Redo
- Other / add components
- At the bottom of the screen
- a status area
- Some program dependent tools.
- View and zoom settings.
- The file tab is somewhat strange.
- This takes us to the backstage view
- Get out with the arrow at the top
