- We will look at a few of the tools used in producing a research paper.

- I will use this document
- A vitiation is required any time you present another persons thoughts or ideas.
- It gives credit to the person
- It establishes authority for claims.
- It provides credibility to your work.
- I know this is tricky, but MY ADVICE is to err in the direction of too many citations, not too few.
- You probably know this, but it is hard to do.
- Especially if you are using note cards or paper to take notes.
- To assist in this task, word has a citation manager
- There are more advanced bib management tools, but this will do for now.
- References tab, Citation & Bibliography group.
- First you can set the style
- Then use Manage sources to insert sources.
- Note, this selects the fields needed for your particular style. If you plan to use different styles, you should make sure all the fields for each style are used.
- Note too, sources from other documents are in a list.
- This is useful in your field, as you frequently cite sources in multiple papers.
- Inserting a source
- Fill in all of the fields.
- Make sure that you follow the examples at the bottom of the page.

- Add a citation to Bird after 1971 in the first paragraph.
- Insert a citation to Lebduska at the end of the third paragraph.
- Find [4] At the end of Reception and insert a citation to
- In retrospect: The Lorax. Marris, Emma. August 11, 2011. Nature. 476: 147-149., this is an article in a periodical. If you are missing parts, find them.
- Use a Next Page Break at the end of the document.
- Notice, this inserts a section break.
- Build a bib
- Add a footnote to the title, "From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia".
- Again, use the reference tab.
- Careful you don't edit in the footnote area.
- Discuss the footnote editing tab.
- Insert a blank page for the TOC.
- Insert a Cover Page.
- Page numbers and next page, link to previous and different.
- Rebuild TOC.
