Grades
Grades will be assigned as follows:

| 90 - 100 | A |
I reserve the right to lower the ranges in this table if I feel that it is
appropriate. I will not raise the standards of performance.
You will have an opportunity to earn the points for your grade as follows:
- Hands on Exercises: 10 points
- Homework: 25 points
- Additional Exercises: 10 points
- Projects: 30 points
- Word Test: 15 points
- Excel Test: 15 points
- Final Exam: 20 points
Please note, these points total to more than 100. You may choose to complete any portion of these requirements to reach the grade that you desire.
- Hands on Exercises:
Each chapter in the book has two to three sets of hands on exercises.
These exercises include step by step instructions on how to perform the tasks discussed in the chapter that will be needed to complete the problems at the end of that chapter. If you are experienced with the software, you do
not need to do this work. If you have less experience, you should
do these exercises to prepare you for the homeworks, projects and
tests.
- Homework:
I will assign two to three problems from the end of each chapter
for you to complete. Please make sure that you follow all instructions, both in the assignment statement and in the exercise.
- Additional Exercises:
If you are comfortable with the software used in class and you would
like to learn something new, please contact me and we can make
arrangements for you to do this. To take this option you must
demonstrate proficiency in the packages covered.
- Projects:
I will assign one or two projects for each software package. Please
make sure that you follow all instructions for these projects.
- Tests:
- The word test will be on Feb 26 and will cover chapters 1-6.
It will consists of both a written portion and a
practical portion.
You may earn up to 15 points on this test.
- The excel test will be on April 13 and will cover chapters 1-5.
It will consist of a written and a practical portion. You may earn up to 15 points on this test.
- The final exam will be on Tuesday May 3 and will be comprehensive. (Everything we have talked about). It will include a written and practical portion. You may earn up to 20 points on this test.
