Fall 2008 Word Test

Practical Portion

  1. Start Word.
  2. (1 point) Place your name on the right hand side of the header of the document.
  3. (1 point) Place CSCI 104, Test 1 on the left hand side of the header of the document.
  4. (2 points) Copy the story "Self-Preservation Instinct?!" from this web page and paste it into your word document.
  5. (2 points) Place the title ("Self-Preservation Instinct?!") in 20 point Comic Sans MS font.
  6. (1 points) Make -By Patricia Hall Bold, and right justified.
  7. (2 points) Mark the Incident #: lines so that they will appear in a table of contents.
  8. (2 points) Build a table of contents under the author's name.
  9. (1 point ) Center the words "Table of Contents"
  10. (2 points) Add a footnote to the document title, the foot note should read From www.pawfriendly.com.
  11. (1 point) Rename the dog in the story from Thor to Rover
  12. (3 points) Place the "News Hound" dog from this page between the first and second incident. (Refer the the picture at the bottom of the page for placement).
  13. (1 point) Delete Incident #5: and the two paragraphs which go along with it.
  14. (5 points) Number the first page at the bottom left with the number 1, number the second page (and all subsequent pages) on the bottom right using roman numerals starting with IV.
  15. (2 points) Enter the following text at the end of the document: 
    Dogs are domesticated gray wolves.  They are mammals in the Candie family
in the order Carnivora. There are many breads of dogs, and the AKC has 8
working groups.
  16. (2 points) After Carnivora cite the wikipedia article on dogs.
  17. (2 points) After AKC cite the AKC webpage (www.akc.org)
  18. (10 points) Set up a tabbed table containing the following information

  19. (5 points) Add a bibliography.
  20. (2 points) Update the table of contents, make sure the bib is in the table of contents.
  21. (3 points) Between the table and the bib, add a ribbon, with the text "The End", in 26 point font, colored Red.
  22. Remember to print a copy and email a copy to dbennett@edinboro.edu. Make the subject of this email "My 104 Test"
