Fall 2007 Word Test
Please read the following
- Please turn in your written test NOW.
- You may print these instructions if you wish.
- This portion is worth 50 points.
- You have until the end of class to complete this portion.
- You must turn in the following:
- You may use your books and notes for this portion of the test.
- You MAY NOT communicate with any other person during this test. (Email, chat, IM, talk, phone, ...)
- A printed version of the test, pick it up from the GA and give it to the Instructor.
- Email your document to dbennett@edinboro.edu
- Points will be deducted for sloppy work and stray marks.
- Start Word.
- (1 points) Place your name in the left hand corner of the Header
- (4 points) Place the word Page followed by the page number, using roman numerals, in the right hand corner of the header. Each page should be numbered correctly starting from I.
- (3 points) Cut the written story Piece-by-Piece from http://www.americanfolklore.net/folktales/ny4.html and paste this into your document.
- (2 points) Remove the Listen to the story link.
- (3 points) Replace the title Piece-by-Piece with word art.
- (3 points) Put retold by S. E. Schlosser in 14 point Blackadder ITC bold font.
- (5 points) Add a endnote after Schlosser that states: From the American Folklore Collection
- (2 points) Place all of the text in normal style.
- (2 points) Justify align the first paragraph.
- (5 points) Place the next three paragraphs in two column mode. Put the first two paragraphs in the first column and the third paragraph in the second column.
- (2 points) Indent the first line of each of the above paragraphs.
- (4 points) Change all occurrences of the word Poughkeepsie to be Edinboro
- (5 points) At the end of the story, insert a citation to the web page the story was copied from.
- (2 points) After the story, add a section titled Outline of the Plot. Use heading two style
- (5 points) Add a numbered list.
- The First level should be numbered with the letters A, B, C, ...
- The second level should be numbered with roman numerals I, II, ...
- The text should be:
- Background
- Joe decides to visit the house
- The ghost appears
- Joe panics
- The house is torn down
- (5 points) Put a picture of a ghost between the two columns, have the text wrap around the ghost.
- (5 points) Insert a Bibliography on the last page of your document.
- (2 points) Insert a shape art smiley face.
- (2 points) Insert a shape art callout from the smiley face.
- (3 points) Insert the words Ghosts are fun into the callout box. Make it 20 point, red and some script font.
- (10 points) Under the outline insert the following in a tabbing environment
- Set one tab at 2 inches, this should be left aligned
- Set another tab at 4 inches, this should be center aligned
- Put a _ leader between the tab stops
- Text:
- Ghosts _ Are Fun
- Witches _ Are Awesome
- Zombies _ Are the Living End
- (10 points) Add a table that looks like this (you will not be able to duplicate this table exactly, but make the general layout the same.) See the example for more detail.
