Word Test, Fall 2006.

Please follow all of the instructions on this page. You need to include the elements described, but your final product may have slight variations.
- If you get stuck on a portion, skip it and finish the rest of the test, then return to the portion you are stuck on.
- You may use your book for this section of the exam.
- Make sure that you save often, crashing your computer at the end is not an excuse for not completing the test.
- If you wish, you may print out these instructions.
- Make sure you print out a copy of the final product and turn it in.
- Make sure that you email a copy of the final product to dbennett@edinboro.edu
- Save a copy of This Starting Document to your S drive. (the file pointed to by the link, not these instructions)
- Headers:
- (2) On the first page, make the header contain your name(on the left)
and the page number (on the right), but indicate the page number
with roman numerals.
- (1) Force the story "Don't Play With Fire" onto the second page.
- (2) Continue with your name on the left hand side of the header but
start page numbering over at 1, and use normal numbers for the
page number on the second page.
- Title
- (1) Center the title on the page.
- (1) Change the font size to 16 point
- (3) Add a endnote to the title, From www.rd.com
- Title Bar.
- (2) Under the title add a three column one row table.
- (1) In the left column add the text Word Test left justified.
- (1) In the center column add the text CSCI 104 centered.
- (1) In the right column, add the text Fall 2006 right justified.
- New Heading
- (3) Create a new style based on Heading1 type, call it MyHeader
- (1) Make the text orange
- (1) Mark all of the bold text in the body of the paper in this format.
- Column Mode
- (2) Place the second and third stories (Private Party and
Mummified Mom) in two column mode.
- (1) Place a line between the columns.
- (2) Make both stories fully justified.
- Outline Mode (5)
- Below the last story (Outfit Over-Easy) add the title
Top 5 Halloween Costumes Make this heading 2 format
Add an outline of the top five Halloween Costumes.
- Hippie
- Cheerleader
- Darth Vader
- Cat
- Vampire
This should be numbered with roman numerals.
- Table of Contents: (5)
- Before the first story (Trick or Tryst?), add the text
Some Stories. Make this heading 2 format
- After the title table, add a table of contents.
- Artwork:
- (3) Insert word art on the second page with the text Happy Halloween
- Use any form you choose, but place the art behind the text.
- (2)Add two different pumpkin pictures to the bottom of the document.
Don't make the document go over two pages.
- Add two dialog boxes (callouts) one for each pumpkin. Make
sure that the bubble points to each of their mouths.
- (1) In the first add the text
Why do Jack-O-Lanterns always have a silly grin?"
- (1) In the second add
"Because someone scooped out the insides of their head"
- (3) Change all of the instances of "--Contributed by" to
"As told by"
When you are finished:
- print out a copy of your final document.
- email a copy of your final document to dbennett@edinboro.edu
Failure to do either of these will result in a loss of 20%
credit.
