Word Test, Fall 2005, Practical Portion

Instructions

• Please turn in the written portion of your test now.
• You may use your books and notes for this portion of the test.
• You may print a copy of this page if you wish.
• Please save your document often.
• You have the remainder of the class period to complete this test, when time is expired, please turn in what you have completed.
• When you are finished, please print a copy of your test, collect it from the lab monitor, and give it to the professor administering the test.
• When you are finished, please email a copy of this test to dbennett@edinboro.edu.
• A sample copy is located at the end of this document. It has been marked to prevent copying.
• You need not match my sample exactly. It is for reference only.
• If you get stuck or confused, please go on to another portion of this test.

Test

• Open word.
• [2 points] Place your name in the header of the document, on the right. This is required for the document to be graded. If you can not place your name in the header, you must type your name on each page of the document.
• [1 points] Place Test 1, Word in the header of the document on the left.
• [4 points] Place n of m in the footer, where n is the page number, m is the total number of pages. You must automatically generate these numbers with Word.
• Copy and paste a copy of Act IV Scene I of Macbeth. (I found a copy here.)
• [3 points] Add an endnote to the words Act IV that contains a link to the page you copied the text from.
• [1 points] Center ACT IV
• [1 points] Center SCENE I. A cavern. In the middle, a boiling cauldron.
• [4 points] Make the body of the text (not the character's names, stage direction, titles or anything else) 8 point, SNAP ITC font.
• [4 points] Place the text (not the title) in three column mode, make each column 2" wide.
• [5 points] Place an image of a witch with a cauldron behind the text on the first page, spanning all of the columns.
• Delete all of the text form Thunder. Third Apparition: a Child crowned, with a tree in his hand to the end of the document.
• After the Macbeth text
• [3 points] Insert A scroll
• [3 points] In the scroll, place the text A Potion
• [4 points] Add the following as a numbered list.

  Witch 1
  	poison'd entrails of toad
  Witch 2
  	Fillet of a fenny snake
  	Eye of newt	Toe of frog
  	Wool of bat	Tongue of dog
  	Adder's fork	Blind-worm's sting
  	Lizard's leg	Owlet's wing

  	Witches' mummy	Salt-sea shark
  	Root of hemlock	Liver of blaspheming Jew
  	Gall of goat	Slips of yew
  	Nose of Turk	Tartar's lips

  • [3 points] Place the list in two column mode.
  • [2 points] Move the Eye of newt from Witch 2's list to Witch 1's list.
  • 10 points are reserved for sloppy work or strange formatting.
  Please print a copy of your test, receive it from the graduate assistant, check it over and turn it in.
