Some Tips
Here are some tips that will make publishing your web pages much easier:
- When naming your files (web pages)
- Use only lower case letters.
- Don't use spaces.
- Write them down, and keep them consistent.
- Make sure that they end in either .html or .htm but don't mix the two.
- Make sure that you save the files as web pages, not word documents.
- There is a delay when saving a new version of a page to the cluster.
You may experience a delay of up to 10 min before the new page is loaded.
- Graphics
- Not all images are saved correctly.
- Word art almost always works.
- Gifs and jpgs from the net (or scanner) work.
- Only some clip art works. IT is best to avoid this.
- Word and HTML have different control schemes for images.
- This means that your images might not line up the same.
- Don't worry about this too much.
- Word will warn you when you save the file.
- Your home page needs to be saved as home.html
- Your web page is at www.edinboro.edu/~username
