    • Work with the format background pane.

  • This is apparently new to 2013.
  • But I think we saw it in word as well.
  • I have noticed it in the past and it is helpful
  • And very intuitive if you are paying attention.
  • But you really don't need to watch the video on how to do it.
  • Select two pictures (click, shift click) and the same action occurs on all pictures.
• Formatting and adding effects to pictures
  • We saw this in word.
  • The paint brush works for picture formatting as well.
• Understanding object layering
  • I tend to utilize layering for my presentations.
  • This one is probably worth a watch.
• Removing the background from pictures
  • Watch this one.
• Matching a logo's color to the PowerPoint color palettes using the eyedropper tool
  • Consider watching this.
• Inserting screenshots into a presentation
  • Not worth watching.

Adding Content to Slides

• Working with bullet points

  • Keep it simple!
  • You know how to do all of these parts from word.
  • Probably not worth watching.
• Using Outline mode to edit content directly
  • I don't see much point...
  • She talks about, but does not show, how to import an outline from word.
  • Probably not worth watching.
• Formatting text and creating WordArt
  • Just like in Word.
  • "It's very easy to get a little carried away"
  • By selecting a text box, you can format everything in that box.
  • Probably not worth watching.
• Working with text boxes
  • You sometimes need to add text boxes to build a custom layout.
  • INSERT and select Text Box
  • Place it and type in it.
  • I use text boxes with animation to make notes appear in odd locations
  • Possibly worth watching.
• Creating and formatting tables
  • Again, we did this in Word.
  • Probably not worth watching.
• Inserting tables from Excel
  • We will talk about this in more detail later, but
  • There are no surprises here.

  • I would watch this one.
• Mering shapes to create your own graphics
  • This seems flaky.
  • Give it a try if you wish.
• Creating and formatting charts
  • Use excel, not powerpoint, to create charts.
  • She does show how to bring in a chart from excel, but
  • Probably not worth watching.
• Using SmartArt to create diagrams
  • We had this in word as well.
  • Probably not worth watching.
