• Document Appearance

  • Typography
    • Character sets are called fonts.
    • Styles
      • Serif - lines on the end of each pen stroke
      • sans serif - no lines
      • Monospace, proportional
      • Bold, Underline, italic ...
    • Use Restraint
      • More is NOT better
      • Emphasizing everything means nothing is emphasized.
    • Size
      • A point is 1/72 of an inch.
      • 8 or smaller is too small
      • 14 or larger is generaly too large.
      • 12 is standard.
  • Page Setup
    • Landscape - Sideways on te page.
    • Portrate - normal page orientation.
  • Warning:
    • Don't spend too much time making the document pretty. Content is more important than form.

• Paragraph Formatting

  • Look at page 82-83 for a comparison of left/right justified, or ragged.
