Publishing your page at Edinboro

• You will need to do this once:
  • Telnet to cluster.edinboro.edu
    • Start -> Programs -> Command Prompt
    • 
    • Will start this window:
    • 
    • At the command prompt (C:>) type

      	
      	telnet cluster.edinboro.edu
      
      	   

    • This will start a window that looks like
    • Log in using your username and Edinboro password, this might be different from the password you use in Hamilton lab.
  • Set up your default web page
    • type the following command

      	   @htbin:makedir
      	   

    • This will set up your web page.
  • Exit from the cluster
    • exit by typing

      	    logout
      	   

  • Test
    • You can test to see if you were successful by going to

      	   http://www.edinboro.edu/~yourusername
      	   

• Copy your files to the vax
  • Start a command prompt, as above
  • Go to the correct directory
    • Type a: to go to the a drive
    • If you are working in a sub directory, type cd dirname

      assume I saved my files in a directory called 
      
        my work
      	  

      
  • Start a ftp session
    • type

      	   ftp cluster.edinboro.edu
      	  

    • Log in with your username and password as above
    • type

      	  cd www
      	  

  • Move the files
    • type

      	  binary
      	  

    • type

      	  mput *.*
      	  

    • Answer no (n) to

      	  mput .?
      	  mput ..?
      	  

    • Answer yes (y) any files you want to put there.
    • 
  • End the FTP session
    • To exit from the vax type:

      	  quit
      	  

    • To exit from the command prompt type

      	  exit
      	  

  • Test
    • http://www.edinboro.edu/~username/filename.htm, as above
