Progress on Converters

Objectives

1. Continue to make progress on the converter functions.

• #pragma once in the .h files
  • This is also done with

  • Look at a system file like /usr/include/limits.h
  • The #findef is the standard, but #pragma once works in 99% of the cases.
  • And will work for everything for us.
• We created DecimalDigitToInt
  • This was used in StringToInteger
  • It in one sense just cleaned up StringToInteger a bit.
  • But threw in a nice error check as well.
  • And we will probably want a MayanDigitToInt, MUrnDigitToInt, ...
    • Some of these might take strings :)

  • Takes a char and returns true if it is a digit and false if not.
  • Requires cctype
  • Part of a family of functions for character identification (is*) and manipulation(to*)
  • Discuss these further during the review.
• A test driver is a program designed to test functions
  • ConverTester.cpp is such a program.
  • We added void TestStringToInt(string s, int value);
    • This takes an int and a string.
    • Calls StringToInteger on the string
    • Checks to see if the results are the same.
    • And complains if they are not.
  • We extolled the virtues of testing (if not, then in the review)
• We discused how to extract the Least Significant Digit from a number

  24601 % 10 = 1
  24601 / 10 = 2460
  
  2460 % 10 = 0
  2460 / 10 = 246
  
  246 % 10 = 6
  246 / 10 = 24
  ...
     

• I promised to write this code for next time.
  • I did, but how do I hook this in?
  • And how do I test it?
  • I did neither!
