Hello all - I have attached a document that compares the previous general criteria to the updated criteria (2019-2020). I know each of you is reviewing the check sheets to be sure the current track meets the ABET general requirement. The old (a) - (i) that we mapped to previously has changed. In the attachment there is a list in the right hand side for both Criterion 3 & 5, these are as follows: From Criterion 3 (These should be our Program Educational Objectives - PEO) Graduates of the program will have an ability to: Analyze a complex computing problem and to apply principles of computing and other relevant disciplines to identify solutions. Design, implement, and evaluate a computing-based solution to meet a given set of computing requirements in the context of the program’s discipline. Communicate effectively in a variety of professional contexts. Recognize professional responsibilities and make informed judgments in computing practice based on legal and ethical principles. Function effectively as a member or leader of a team engaged in activities appropriate to the program’s discipline. From Criterion 5 (These need to be covered by the curriculum) The curriculum requirements specify topics, but do not prescribe specific courses. The program must include mathematics appropriate to the discipline and at least 30 semester credit hours (or equivalent) of up-to-date coverage of fundamental and advanced computing topics that provide both breadth and depth. The computing topics must include: Techniques, skills, and tools necessary for computing practice. Principles and practices for secure computing. Local and global impacts of computing solutions on individuals, organizations, and society. ********************************************************************************** OUR CURRENT LIST of PEO: Objective 1: Graduates will be able to apply the tools, theory and practices of computer science <-- does not need to be a PEO Objective 2: Graduates will be able to apply critical thinking, analytical and logical skills to solve problems. Objective 3: Graduates will possess the ability to communicate in a professional manner. Objective 4: Graduates will recognize and understand the professional, social and ethical responsibilities associated with computer science. Objective 5: Graduates will recognize the need for and an ability to engage in continuous learning. <-does not need to be a PEO *** We will need to add : Function effectively as a member or leader of a team engaged in activities appropriate to the program’s discipline. Need to remove our PEO #5 and replace with new #5 Need to define student outcomes for new #5 *** We will need to reorganize our outcomes so they fall under correct new PEO item <-- maybe this is mostly fine. Make sure every track has the following: - a course or more where they must work in teams - a course or more where they study secure computing - a course or more where they study impact on society If you see something that I missed - please let me know. Thanks, Ellen
